There is barely a part of Aniston’s anatomy that would not withstand even the harshest scrutiny, but the most exceptional feature of late is her minuscule waist. On the set of her latest movie, The Bounty, in New York recently, the 40-year-old’s curves were accentuated by a middle that is in danger of disappearing.
So how does she do it?
Aniston claims her only secret is that she “runs, does yoga and eats well”, although in celebrity dosage, of course. Her diet consists of 40 per cent carbs, 30 per cent fat and 30 per cent protein, with snacks of blueberries and corn chips with salsa thrown in to stem hunger pangs. Her trainer, Mandy Ingber, puts her through a two-hour session of yoga (often to music) every other day. “I’ve grown half an inch from aligning my spine through yoga,” Aniston says. That is followed by 20 minutes of cardio work on the elliptical trainer or treadmill, set precisely at 5.7 mph on a 1.5 incline.
What can you do?
Aniston runs uphill when she can, because it is a great way to burn the fat that can settle as love handles. You don’t need a treadmill — just hike up and down a 60m hill. She also does side stretches as part of her yoga. Stand with your feet about one metre apart, toes facing forward. Clasp your hands together above your head (arms stretched upwards, palms facing the ceiling). Keep your shoulders down and elbows straight. Turn your left foot to the left, making sure your left heel is in line with the instep of your right foot. Breathe in and stretch sideways to the left from the waist. Release your left arm and move your hand down to reach your left ankle. Hold for ten seconds. Release the position and slowly return to the start position. Repeat on the other side. Repeat the entire move five times, every day or every other day, and expect to see results in eight weeks.
